Eltisley Manor is part of Nouvita Healthcare, a specialist provider supporting people living with mental health needs, learning disabilities and autism. Our residents are at the centre of everything we do and our Senior Health Care Assistants are the people who make that a reality, day in and day out.
This is a hands-on role with real responsibility. You will deliver holistic, person-centred care alongside the team, and you will also train, supervise and support the staff around you so that every resident receives outstanding care and is treated with dignity and respect at all times.
Key responsibilities:
• Providing practical and emotional support to residents, responsive to their individual needs and preferences.
- Supporting residents with daily living skills — always promoting independence and developing skills.
- Acting as key worker to individual residents and preparing professional reviews and assessments for new and existing residents.
- Supporting nurses with medication management processes.
- Assisting residents with communication needs, correspondence and appointments.
- Creating opportunities for educational, vocational, social and leisure activities, and supporting residents to access the local community.
- Supporting residents to attend to activities of daily living to promote recovery.
- Helping residents stay connected with family and friends.
- Maintaining contact and good working relationships with external professionals
- Supervising the work of existing staff and supporting the induction of new starters.
- Contributing to the development of colleagues
- Participating in team meetings and ensuring resident meetings take place.
- Keeping up to date with changing practice, attending relevant training, and working to Nouvita policies and procedures.
Skills required:
- Solid experience of working with individuals living with a learning disability or mental health illness (2 years upwards)
• A good understanding of both mental health illness and physical health needs.
- NVQ/RQF Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent experience), or a willingness to work towards one.
• Knowledge of CQC and other regulatory authorities.
- The ability to remain calm and take control in emergency situations.
- The ability to take direction and follow detailed policies and protocols.
- Effective communication skills and strong organisation and time management.
- Experience of working as part of a team, with flexibility and a positive attitude to change.
