Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Nursery Chef to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious, delicious meals for children in our nursery setting. Your culinary expertise will ensure that meal times are both enjoyable and safe, supporting the health and well-being of every child. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic childcare environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook healthy meals and snacks tailored to children's dietary needs and preferences
- Follow food safety standards and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen area
- Plan menus in collaboration with nursery staff to ensure variety and nutritional balance
- Manage food inventory, order supplies as needed, and minimize waste
- Ensure all food preparation complies with relevant health regulations and safety guidelines
- Serve meals in a friendly, welcoming manner that encourages positive mealtime experiences
- Assist with meal setup, cleanup, and proper storage of ingredients and leftovers
Experience
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen setting
- Knowledge of food safety protocols and hygiene standards applicable to childcare environments
- Experience working in a restaurant or catering setting is highly desirable
- Familiarity with meal planning, portion control, and dietary requirements for children
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety
- Previous experience serving food in a childcare or similar setting is a plus
