About Inky Siren
Inky Siren is a growing premium tattoo studio in Stevenage specialising exclusively in Fine Line and Micro Realism tattooing.
We have built the studio around a simple idea:
Great tattoo artists should be able to concentrate on creating beautiful work without spending all of their time worrying about where the next client is coming from.
We invest heavily in marketing, content creation, social media and growing the Inky Siren brand so that our artists can focus on what they do best — creating exceptional tattoos and giving clients an amazing experience.
Following a strong start and growing demand, we are now looking for another talented artist to become a key part of the Inky Siren team.
The opportunity
We are ideally looking for someone who wants to build towards working 4–5 days per week at Inky Siren and for the studio to become their main place of work.
You do not need to arrive with a huge local client base.
One of the biggest things we want to offer our artists is a studio that actively works to generate enquiries, promote their work and build their diary alongside them.
Inky Siren will actively market you, showcase your tattoos, create content around our artists and allocate suitable studio-generated enquiries to you.
Our philosophy is simple:
We build the demand. You create exceptional tattoos.
Working is appointment-based and, as this is a self-employed Resident Artist position, earnings and workload will depend on bookings and availability.
Our specialism
Inky Siren deliberately operates within a narrow tattoo niche:
Fine Line
Micro Realism
That is what we want to become known for.
We are not looking for a generalist tattoo artist who happens to occasionally do fine-line work.
We are looking for someone whose portfolio and artistic direction genuinely sit within the delicate, intricate and highly detailed aesthetic that defines Inky Siren.
Our customer-first philosophy
At Inky Siren, the quality of the tattoo is only part of the experience.
We want every client to feel welcomed, listened to, reassured and genuinely looked after from their first enquiry through to their finished tattoo and aftercare.
Many of our clients are not heavily involved in tattoo culture. Some may be getting their first tattoo, may feel nervous or may simply want expert guidance rather than having to research every detail themselves.
That means we are looking for artists who not only produce exceptional work, but who genuinely care about the person sitting in front of them.
For us, an exceptional customer experience is not an extra.
It is part of the job.
Who we're looking for
You may be a great fit if you:
- specialise in Fine Line, Micro Realism, or both
- have professional tattooing experience
- have a strong portfolio of high-quality work
- can provide examples of healed work where possible
- have excellent attention to detail
- are confident producing small and medium intricate tattoos
- care about the quality and longevity of your work
- communicate warmly and clearly with clients
- make clients feel comfortable, relaxed and respected
- are patient with questions, nerves and first-time tattoo clients
- listen properly to what the client wants
- are reliable, professional and take hygiene extremely seriously
- enjoy collaborating and being part of a team
- are comfortable receiving clients generated by the studio
- are happy working within shared studio systems around bookings, pricing and customer care
- want to help build a strong brand rather than simply rent a chair
- would ideally like to build towards a substantial 4–5 day tattooing diary
Technical ability gets you considered. Customer care, attitude and cultural fit determine whether you belong at Inky Siren.
What Inky Siren provides
As an Inky Siren Resident Artist, you will benefit from:
- a premium purpose-built tattoo studio in Stevenage
- no fixed monthly chair-rental cost
- studio-generated client enquiries
- active marketing and promotion of you and your work
- social-media and content support
- central booking and enquiry infrastructure
- a growing local brand and customer base
- professional tattoo stations
- shared studio facilities
- communal hygiene and studio consumables
- clinical waste and sharps infrastructure
- a calm, welcoming and carefully designed client environment
- the opportunity to increase your working days as your diary grows
Our aim is to remove as much of the unnecessary friction around running a tattoo business as possible, allowing you to spend more of your time tattooing and looking after clients.
What you provide
As a self-employed Resident Artist, you will provide your own:
- tattoo machine
- inks
- needles/cartridges
- artist-specific equipment and specialist supplies
- appropriate professional insurance and registrations required to practise
Revenue split
Our structure is deliberately simple:
60% Artist / 40% Inky Siren
The same split applies to tattoo work carried out through the studio.
There is no fixed chair rent, meaning you are not carrying a large fixed studio cost while your local diary develops.
As your diary grows, your earnings grow directly with it.
Earning potential
This is a commission-based self-employed opportunity rather than a salaried position.
The artist receives 60% of the tattoo revenue generated from their work.
Your actual earnings will depend on your availability, appointment volume and the value of the tattoos you complete.
For an artist who develops a busy 4–5 day diary, we believe there is significant earning potential within the role.
There is no guaranteed minimum salary or guaranteed level of bookings.
Why we're different
We are not simply trying to fill an empty chair.
We are building a specialist brand where customers can come to Inky Siren because they trust that our artists are exceptional at Fine Line and Micro Realism and that they will be genuinely looked after.
We want our artists to develop their own reputation and following within that environment while benefiting from a studio that actively invests in generating demand for them.
If you're an excellent tattoo artist who loves the craft but would rather spend less time constantly chasing your next booking, this could be a very good fit.
