Hours: 35-37 hours per week

Our client is seeking a qualified and experienced Property Accountant with experience of Horizon to join a fast-paced finance team within a property environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional with strong technical accounting expertise and team management experience.
The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing financial operations, supporting business performance analysis, and managing a small finance team including Accounts Payable, Assistant Accountants, and Property Accountants.
You will be a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional who thrives in a collaborative environment. You will combine strong technical accounting skills with the ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders, and continuously improve finance processes. Laptop will be provided
Key Responsibilities
Team Oversight
- Manage and support:
- Accounts Payable team
- 2 Assistant Accountants
- 2 Property Accountants
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and performance management across the team
- Ensure effective workload allocation and operational efficiency
Financial Operations
- Post journals and complete management accounting activities
- Review and validate accruals and prepayments
- Maintain accuracy and integrity of the general ledger
- Oversee Accounts Payable processes and controls
- Complete bank reconciliations
- Manage and maintain accurate cash forecasting
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures
Reporting & Analysis
- Produce performance and financial reports for internal stakeholders and Finance teams
- Work closely with the Senior Finance Business Partner
- Partner with the wider Business Partnering team to assess property performance
- Provide financial insights and operational support both in person and via Teams
- Support decision-making through analysis and reporting
Process Improvement & Risk Management
- Identify and implement process and policy improvements aligned with industry best practice
- Manage complex financial risks and mitigation activities
- Drive efficiencies across finance operations and reporting processes
Essential Experience & Skills
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
- Previous experience within a property or property management environment
- Experience managing Accounts Payable and/or Property Accounting teams
- Strong understanding of management accounting principles
- Proven experience with:
- Journal postings
- Accruals and prepayments
- General ledger maintenance
- Cash forecasting
- Bank reconciliations
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Experience identifying and implementing process improvements
- Ability to manage complex risk and control environments
- Experience using Horizon systems
