Overview
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Tool Hire Shop Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our busy tool hire branch. This is a hands-on management role where you'll be responsible for delivering excellent customer service, driving sales, managing stock and equipment, and leading a small team to achieve high standards of performance.
The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills, commercial awareness, and a passion for providing outstanding service while ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the hire business.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the tool hire shop.
- Lead, motivate, and develop the branch team.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to trade and retail customers.
- Drive sales and maximise hire opportunities.
- Ensure all hire equipment is maintained, inspected, and available for hire.
- Manage stock levels and coordinate deliveries and collections.
- Oversee health and safety compliance across the branch.
- Handle customer enquiries, quotations, and account management.
- Monitor branch performance against sales and profitability targets.
- Maintain accurate hire documentation and reporting.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses and contractors.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience managing a tool hire, plant hire, builders' merchant, or similar business.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
- Good commercial awareness and a proactive approach to sales.
- Experience managing stock, equipment, and operational processes.
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements within the hire industry.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Confidence using computer systems and hire management software.
- A full UK driving licence is desirable.

Pay: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
