Sub Agent Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C
As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the Marine and Tunnels Section.
What will you do?
The Civil Works Alliance (CWA) is delivering the critical civil works for the Sizewell C nuclear power plant project. Within the Marine and Tunnel (M&T) portion, we are seeking a Sub Agent to join our marine preconstruction team in London initially ahead of mobilisation to Suffolk. This role offers the opportunity to be part of a dynamic alliance of world-class contractors, working on one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects.
Reporting to the Marine Preconstruction Manager for the Marine and Tunnel Portion, the Sub Agent will play a key role in developing construction methods, assessing delivery risks and opportunities, and ensuring readiness for offshore dredging, rock placement, heavy lifting, monopile installation, drilling and grouting campaigns in the North Sea.
- Coordinate subcontractor Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) activities for a defined section of the works, ensuring outputs are delivered in line with project requirements.
- Develop construction methodologies and undertake constructability reviews for marine construction activities, including:
- Onshore work hubs and muster ports supporting offshore operations
- Marine logistics, vessel navigation and mooring arrangements
- Heavy lifting and transportation operations
- Large diameter drilling and piling activities
- Grouting operations
- Review and assess proposed construction solutions, identifying impacts on safety, programme, cost and risk.
- Identify and manage risks and opportunities associated with the section of works.
Develop scopes of work and technical requirements for subcontract tender packages and support procurement activities, including subcontractor evaluations
- Support mobilisation and readiness planning as the project transitions from preconstruction into offshore construction and delivery.
- Maintain accurate records, reports and technical documentation relating to assigned workstreams.
- Promote a positive safety culture and actively support continuous improvement initiatives across the project team.
What are we looking for?
Knowledge & Skills
Essential
- Experience within a marine or preconstruction environment.
- Experience working within a contractor or principal contractor organisation on engineering or construction projects.
- Good appreciation of programme, cost and risk considerations during project planning and delivery.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and interfaces simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, designers, subcontractors and clients.
- Ability to take ownership of assigned tasks and deliver them with limited supervision.
Desirable
- Experience of marine operations, offshore construction, ports, coastal or major infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with the Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015 (CDM).
- Experience contributing to subcontractor procurement and tendering activities.
- Understanding of marine logistics, vessel operations or offshore construction techniques.
- Professional accreditation or working towards chartership with a relevant institution.
- Relevant qualifications such as SMSTS, SSSTS, BOSIET, GWO
