St David's Residential Home is a forward-thinking family run Home dedicated to providing first class person-centred care to our residents. We are looking for a professional, creative and energetic Maintenance Assistant to join our friendly and passionate team on a part-time basis.
Between 16-24 hours per week, with potential for additional hours to cover any periods of absence/annual leave. Pay is from £13-£14 per hour (negotiable for the right candidate and dependant on experience)
Reporting to the Maintenance and Home Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the general maintenance of the care home, ensuring the premises and grounds are maintained to a high standard providing the residents with a safe, comfortable and pleasant environment in which to live and ultimately ensuring the safety of all residents, visitors and employees.
Key responsibilities will include:
- The upkeep and maintenance of the Care Home and surrounding grounds, ensuring excellent first impressions to all who visit
- Maintaining the home as a pleasant, friendly and secure place to live and work
- Ensuring the smooth operation and serviceability of all services such as heating, lighting, plumbing, electrical and other equipment required for the safe and efficient operation of the Home
- Working positively with the Maintenance and Home Manager, to achieve outcomes for the longer-term tasks such as refurbishment, non day-to-day servicing, redecoration etc.
- Completing/coordinating all scheduled fire and safety checks on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis as required
- Maintain all records in accordance with HSE and Company policies, procedures and guidelines
- Liaising with outside contractors on periodic certification or other work beyond the scope of general repair and maintenance
- Orientation and fire induction training for new staff members
- Our ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in a similar position – an appropriate qualification would be an advantage
- A trade would be beneficial
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A flexible and creative approach to solving problems speedily and effectively
- A friendly and polite manner with a good sense of humour
- The ability to work both as part of a team and individually on your own initiative.
- A good understanding of health and safety including COSHH and other applicable legislation
- A knowledge and understanding of issues relating to older people
- Full clean driving licence
As the role involves working with vulnerable people employment will be subject to appropriate pre-employment checks including referencing and Disclosure and Barring Service check.
