About the Role
Abbey Logistics Group is offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our experienced fabrication team as a Metal Fabricator Apprentice.
This apprenticeship provides the opportunity to develop practical fabrication and engineering skills while working within a professional workshop environment. You'll gain hands-on experience repairing and maintaining our tanker and trailer fleet while studying towards a nationally recognised Level 3 Metal Fabricator qualification.
Working alongside experienced fabricators, you'll receive full training, ongoing support and mentoring throughout your apprenticeship.
What You'll Be Doing
As part of your apprenticeship, you will learn to:
- Carry out chassis repairs and general accident damage repairs.
- Fabricate and repair components using aluminium and stainless steel.
- Measure, mark out, cut and shape metal components with precision.
- Ensure parts are correctly fitted, aligned and securely installed.
- Safely operate workshop tools and fabrication equipment.
- Follow all health & safety procedures and company policies.
- Work as part of an experienced fabrication team to produce high-quality workmanship.
Apprenticeship Training
You will complete the Level 3 Metal Fabricator Apprenticeship delivered by Riverside College.
Training includes:
- Weekly attendance at Riverside College, Widnes.
- Structured workplace learning with an experienced onsite mentor.
- Full induction and ongoing practical training within our workshop.
- Support to develop the technical skills and knowledge required for a successful career in fabrication.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- 4 GCSEs at Grades 4–9 (A*–C), including English and Maths.
- A genuine interest in engineering, fabrication or manufacturing.
- Willingness to learn and develop new practical skills.
Skills & Qualities

Applicants with equivalent qualifications obtained outside the UK must provide UK ENIC equivalency certification if shortlisted.
