About the job
We are seeking a reliable and proactive General Maintenance Operative to support the day-to-day upkeep of our working factory and surrounding grounds. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a broad skill set across general maintenance tasks and a strong willingness to learn and develop new skills with an eye for detail.
You will play a key role in ensuring that the site remains safe, functional, and well-maintained always.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient working environment across factory and external areas
- Respond promptly to maintenance issues to minimise downtime and disruption
- Support continuous improvement of facilities through proactive maintenance
- Develop skills across multiple trades, contributing to a flexible and capable maintenance function
- Carry out general maintenance and repair work within the factory upholstery environment
- Perform basic plumbing tasks (e.g., fixing leaks, replacing fittings, unblocking drains)
- Undertake basic electrical work (e.g., changing lighting, fault finding, simple repairs)
- Complete joinery and carpentry tasks such as repairs, installations, and adjustments
- Conduct painting and decorating to maintain internal and external appearance
- Maintain outdoor areas including landscaping, groundskeeping, and general upkeep
- Assist with installation, movement, and setup of equipment or fixtures
- Identify and report maintenance issues, recommending solutions where appropriate
- Ensure all work is completed in line with our health and safety
Requirements: Your Skills
- Previous experience in a general maintenance or facilities role
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrics, and joinery
- Practical, hands-on approach with good problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Awareness of health and safety practices in a fast pace working environment
- Relevant trade qualifications
- Experience working in a factory or industrial setting
- Full driving licence – minimum of 2 years
