Are you passionate about supporting communities, building positive relationships and helping people sustain successful tenancies? if so, we want to hear from you.
At RBH, we're looking for an experienced, proactive and customer-focused Neighbourhood Housing Officer to join our Customer & Communities team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives on variety, enjoys working closely with people and wants to make a genuine difference to the lives of residents across Rochdale. Therefore, it is essential you have a full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle insured for business use.
This is far more than a housing role. You'll be at the heart of our neighbourhoods, helping to create places where people feel safe, supported and proud to call home.
This is a permanent, full-time role (36.25 hours per week), field-based role across Rochdale Borough (90% community-based and 10% office-based).
What will you be doing as our Neighbourhood Housing Officer?
Working across a designated neighbourhood patch, you'll take ownership of a wide range of housing management responsibilities, developing strong relationships with customers, colleagues and partner organisations.
You will:
-
Deliver a high-quality, customer-focused neighbourhood management service
-
Manage the end-to-end lettings process, helping families find homes and communities in which they can thrive
-
Support tenancy sustainment and work proactively to resolve tenancy-related issues
-
Investigate and resolve low-level anti-social behaviour and neighbourhood concerns
-
Act as a safeguarding lead, supporting vulnerable residents and working alongside partner agencies
-
Develop and maintain strong partnerships with tenants, community groups and local organisations
-
Lead and support community initiatives that improve neighbourhoods and bring people together
-
Attend community events, drop-ins and engagement activities across your patch
-
Work collaboratively with internal teams to maximise occupancy, minimise void loss and support income collection
-
Represent RBH at court hearings and other formal proceedings when required
No two days are the same. One day you may be supporting a vulnerable resident, the next you'll be launching a community project or working with partner agencies to resolve neighbourhood concerns.
What are we looking for from you?
We're seeking someone who combines excellent housing management skills with a genuine passion for people and communities.
You'll have:
-
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use
-
Experience within housing management, neighbourhood services, lettings or tenancy management
-
Experience of developing sustainable tenancies and delivering excellent customer service
-
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
-
Experience working with a range of stakeholders and partner organisations
-
The ability to manage a varied workload and work independently in a field-based environment
-
Experience resolving complex or challenging situations professionally and effectively
-
Strong IT skills, including Microsoft 365
-
An understanding of the challenges facing diverse communities and vulnerable customers
-
A CIH Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) would be advantageous, but is not essential.
Why join RBH?
In addition to a competitive salary and ongoing development opportunities, you'll benefit from:
-
Mileage allowance to cover business miles
-
30 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
-
Option to buy up to 5 additional days annual leave.
-
An additional 5 days leave after 5 years' service.
-
Pension scheme with employer contributions matched up to 8%; death in service benefit.
-
Flexible smart working arrangements.
-
Healthcare cashback plan, virtual GP access and subsidised gym membership.
-
Employee Assistance Programme available 24/7.
-
Paid volunteering days.
-
Enhanced family-friendly policies.
