Position: Information Governance Support Officer
Location: 44 York Street, Twickenham, Greater London, TW1 3BW
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: 1+ Months - Remote working all week except Thursday when expected in the Twickenham Civic Centre in person.
Working Hours: 36 hours per week
Pay Rate: PAYE: £20.69 Per Hour
Job Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for Freedom of Information (FOI) requests and Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), ensuring timely and accurate responses in line with GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and FOI legislation.
- Coordinate, track, and maintain records of information requests received by Achieving for Children.
- Process data subject requests, including reviewing information, applying redactions, and preparing responses for requesters.
- Provide advice, guidance, and support to staff regarding FOI requests, data protection requirements, and information governance procedures.
- Support the development, review, and implementation of information governance policies, procedures, and processes.
- Assist with data security incident management and support compliance monitoring activities.
- Support the delivery of information governance training and awareness across the organisation.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting systems to support effective governance and compliance.
- Communicate complex information governance matters clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
- Work independently, prioritise tasks, and manage competing deadlines effectively.
Person Specification
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience working in an administrative, information governance, data protection, or compliance-related role.
- Good understanding of GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and Freedom of Information legislation.
- Strong knowledge of confidentiality, information security, and data handling principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently, use initiative, and exercise sound judgement.
- Strong attention to detail with good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
Desirable
- Experience working within Children's Services, Health, Local Government, or a public sector environment.
- Experience handling FOI requests, data subject requests, or information governance processes.
- Knowledge of information governance systems and record management practices.
Qualifications
- GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics desirable.
- Good standard of literacy, numeracy, and administrative skills.
