Production Manager
Responsibilities

Lead and manage daily production and assembly operations to ensure customer delivery dates and business targets are achieved.

Oversee Make-to-Order (MTO), Make-to-Stock (MTS) and Configure-to-Order (CTO) production activities, ensuring products are built safely, efficiently and to specification.

Manage production schedules, resources and team workloads to maximise productivity and operational performance.

Lead, coach and develop Team Leaders and Assembly Operatives through regular performance reviews, training and development activities.

Drive a culture of accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement across the production function.

Ensure all products meet quality standards, drawings and approved work instructions.

Work closely with Quality and Test teams to improve right-first-time performance and reduce rework.

Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventative actions to resolve recurring quality issues.

Champion Health & Safety across the production environment, ensuring compliance with company policies and legislation.

Drive lean manufacturing initiatives including 5S, visual management and process improvement activities.

Maintain accurate ERP/MRP transactions, production records and performance data.

Produce operational reports and analyse performance metrics to support continuous improvement.

Collaborate with Engineering, Planning, Warehouse, Quality and Commercial teams to support business objectives and customer requirements.
Knowledge and Skills
-
Proven experience managing a production or assembly team, ideally with responsibility for 20+ employees.

Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, 5S and continuous improvement methodologies.

Experience within a Make-to-Order (MTO), Configure-to-Order (CTO) or manufacturing environment.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.

Experience using ERP/MRP systems.

Strong leadership, coaching and people management skills with a hands-on approach.

Excellent organisational, planning and prioritisation skills.
-
Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
-
Experience within electro-mechanical, pumping, fluid systems or related manufacturing environments would be advantageous.

Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems is desirable.

Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or IOSH qualifications would be beneficial.
