Reception Team Member (Full Time)

We are looking for two friendly, professional, and motivated Reception Team Members to join our busy GP practice.
As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a key role in providing a welcoming, efficient, and compassionate service. This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You'll be working as part of a supportive team, helping to ensure patients receive the highest standard of care from the moment they contact the practice.
Though experience is not essential, availability to work your hours anytime between 7.30 and 6.30pm Monday to Friday is, as is the requirement to multi-task in a demanding environment.
About the Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Greeting patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Answering telephone calls and responding to patient enquiries with empathy and efficiency.
- Booking, amending, and cancelling appointments using the practice clinical system.
- Registering new patients and updating patient records accurately.
- Managing incoming correspondence and supporting the clinical and administrative teams.
- Processing prescriptions and directing patient requests appropriately.
- Maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with GDPR and NHS information governance requirements.
- Helping to keep the reception area welcoming, organised, and running smoothly.
- Working flexibly as part of the wider practice team to support excellent patient care.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Is calm, organised, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Can deal with sensitive situations professionally and with compassion.
- Has good IT skills and is confident learning new computer systems.
- Can prioritise tasks and work accurately under pressure.
- Enjoys working as part of a team while also being able to work independently.
- Understands the importance of confidentiality and professionalism.
Previous experience in a GP practice, healthcare setting, reception, or customer service role is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided. Experience of using clinical systems such as EMIS Web or SystmOne would be an advantage.
