Are you a natural organiser? Good at keeping a place in order and down to earth?
Then our team needs you!
Saffron Autos is looking for a Service Advisor to help keep our busy technicians organised, support our existing Service Advisor with everything customer-related, and help us move into 2027 on a steady upward trajectory.
We’re a busy independent garage with a team of four technicians, and we’re looking for someone who can bring organisation, focus and good common sense to the working day. Someone who keeps on top of the details, makes sure the admin follows the work, looks after our customers properly and helps keep the whole workshop moving.
We’re family-run and owner Matt is busy in the workshop and needs someone to maintain our respectable reputation. You will see from our Five Star Google reviews that we are known for being reliable, polite and fast. We are a Which? Trusted Trader, and HEVRA and Good Garage Scheme members. But we need help – we are busy, and we need someone to join us!
This is an important role in the business. You’ll sit at the centre of the day-to-day operation – keeping customers informed, keeping the workshop organised and making sure the paperwork and admin keep pace with the work being completed.
We’re looking for someone down to earth, conscientious and organised, who takes pride in getting things done properly and wants to help a good independent garage continue to develop.
We have a few projects to work on, which we will share at the interview stage.
What the job looks like
You’ll be responsible for helping to organise the workload of our workshop team of four technicians.
That means knowing what is booked in, what stage each job is at, what needs authorising, what parts or information are being waited for and what needs to happen next.
Just as importantly, you’ll make sure the admin keeps up.
We want someone who notices when something hasn't been finished, follows it through and likes getting to the end of the day knowing things are organised.
You'll also be one of the main points of contact for our customers. You'll need to be friendly and polite, but also confident enough to have straightforward conversations about repairs and costs.
Sometimes that means explaining why a job costs what it does, talking a customer through the work their vehicle needs and helping them understand what they are paying for, without being pushy or making the conversation uncomfortable.
We think you'll suit us if you are:
- Conscientious – if something needs doing, you make sure it gets done.
- Organised – you can keep track of several jobs without letting the smaller admin tasks disappear.
- Down to earth – we're an independent garage and want customers and colleagues to feel comfortable talking to you.
- Focused – you can concentrate on what needs to happen and keep the day moving.
- A good communicator – friendly and polite, but comfortable having clear conversations when needed.
- Commercially aware – you understand that we are a business and are comfortable explaining costs and the value of the work we do.
- A team player – you'll be working closely with four technicians and helping them have the information and organisation they need to get their jobs done.
- Interested in improving things – not change for the sake of change, but noticing where something could work a little better and helping us make it happen.
- Level-headed and consistent - a steady approach to work each day and doesn't get easily flustered.
Pay will reflect your experience and what you can bring to the role.
You don’t need to know how to fix cars, we can teach you what you need to know about the automotive side of the job.
What is important is that you are confident with IT and comfortable learning new systems. We use a comprehensive garage management system to keep our customer information, workshop jobs, invoices and day-to-day administration in one place. We’ll give you thorough training, but you’ll need to be comfortable with computers and able to use technology confidently to organise your working day.
Previous customer service experience would be helpful, but we’re open to people from all sorts of working backgrounds. For us, finding the right person is more important than finding someone with the perfect CV.
When you apply, please include a short cover letter introducing yourself. Tell us a little about why this role has caught your attention and, most importantly, why you think you’d be a good fit for Saffron Autos.
Pay: £29,000.00-£34,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
