Night Care Assistant with Medication Responsibilities
Abbeyfield Tamar House is a residential care home in Derriford, Plymouth, providing care and support for older residents. We are looking for a kind, reliable and confident Night Care Assistant to join our team and help ensure residents feel safe, comfortable and well cared for throughout the night.
This role will include night-time care duties as well as medication responsibilities, so we are looking for someone who is calm under pressure, attentive to detail and committed to delivering safe, person-centred care.
What we are looking for
§ A caring and compassionate approach to supporting older people
§ Reliability, patience and a calm manner during night shifts
§ Confidence supporting residents with personal care and wellbeing needs
§ Good communication skills and the ability to follow care plans accurately
§ Experience with medication administration or a willingness to undertake appropriate training, depending on current competency
§ A commitment to safeguarding, dignity, privacy and choice
Key duties will include
· Providing respectful personal care and reassurance to residents during the night
· Responding promptly to call bells and supporting residents’ comfort, safety and dignity
· Completing regular checks in line with care plans and recording information accurately
· Supporting residents who may be unsettled or anxious during the night
· Administering, recording and managing medication safely in line with policies and procedures, where trained and authorised to do so
· Working with colleagues to maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment
About you
You may already have experience in care, medication administration or working night shifts, but your values are just as important to us. We are looking for someone who is reassuring, patient, committed and able to work responsibly as part of a supportive team.
We will provide a uniform and all required PPE for this role. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and a successful work trial.

Pay: £14.63 per hour
