The Marillac Neurological Care Centre is a 52 bed centre providing 24 hour nursing and therapy services for people over the age of 18 with complex acquired neurological and physical disabilities.
We are currently looking for a part time Housekeeper to ensure that all areas of the home are cleaned to the highest standards in accordance with infection control guidance.
Your would be working two days per week 7.30am to 3pm. Initially this role would be weekends but change to weekdays/weekends down the line.
Key Responsibilities:
To work as a member of the housekeeping team in a flexible manner to provide an effective and efficient housekeeping service that supports and enhances quality of care for the environment of our residents, staff volunteers and visitors.
To afford each resident, at all times, due dignity and respect, understanding that our residents are vulnerable and that you will be required to lone work in their personal rooms. You must make sure that the service you provide ensures the confidentiality, personal space and the belongings of each resident are treated with the utmost respect and care.
Ensure that all housekeeping activities are undertaken in a manner that ensures compliance with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards.
Good stamina and physical ability to work in a housekeeping role, standing for long periods of time, bending down etc.
Requirements:
- Preferable current or prior experience working in a clinical environment as a housekeeper/cleaner
- Strong communication skills
- Friendly and approachable
- Can work individually or as part of a team
DUTIES:
Unit Based, General Areas and Laundry
Participate in the creation of a friendly, professional, supportive, homely, clean and hygienic environment for Residents and their families.
Work effectively as part of a team to ensure that all areas of the home are cleaned to the highest standards and in accordance with the planned cleaning / laundry schedule and infection control guidance.
Ensure that each resident is treated with respect and dignity at all times, especially when you are lone working with residents in their bedrooms, understanding that our residents are vulnerable, and their rooms are their only personal space.
Participate in catering duties as directed by the Ancillary Manager/Supervisor, maintaining a high regard for food hygiene and cleanliness.
Understand and adhere to infection control procedures and policies that minimise the risk of cross infection.
Report any faults, loss or damage to equipment, paying particular attention to electric appliances, cable and sockets.
Maintain adequate supplies of cleaning and equipment within the designated area and ensure records are kept up to date and accurate.
Wear protective clothing as required and to be familiar with safe handling of chemicals procedures and to adhere to C.O.S.H.H regulations.
Able to operate all appliances e.g. steam cleaner; floor buffing machine; washing machines; driers and ironing equipment. Please note the buffing machine would require steel toe caps to be worn and any MNCC employee operating such machines should be of suitable stature in terms of strength to cope with such machinery.
