Join us in creating an engaging shopping experience that delights our customers while fostering a supportive environment for our team as a Charity Shop manager! This role is a holiday cover for 2 months.
Our Raynes Park Charity Shop is open 10am - 6pm Monday - Saturday and 11am - 5pm on Sundays. You will be required to work five 8 hour shifts per week (30 minute lunchbreak is unpaid). Your five shifts will include either a Saturday or Sunday each week.
Starting salary of £14 per hour. Pre paid Travel Card is included with this role.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. Previous experience as a charity shop manager or charity shop retail assistant is desirable for this position. As the Charity Shop Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing staff, and ensuring that sales targets are met while maintaining a positive shopping experience for our customers.
Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate a team of sales assistants to achieve store objectives and enhance performance.
- Manage daily store operations, including inventory management, merchandising, and customer service.
- Supervise staff, providing training and development opportunities to foster a high-performing team.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure alignment on goals and expectations.
- Implement promotional strategies to drive sales and increase customer engagement.
- Maintain an organised store environment that is visually appealing and meets company standards.
- Work alongside HR with recruitment of retail assistants/volunteers.
- Ability to train staff/volunteers and encourage them to develop their skills.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the store.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Willingness to tackle dirty and less desirable jobs with a physical capability to carry and move heavy bags.
Requirements
- Proven experience in retail management or a similar role is essential.
- At least 1 years experience in charity shop retail.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with customers and staff alike.
- Organisational skills with a keen eye for detail in managing store operations.
- Bilingual abilities are advantageous for communicating with a broader customer base.
- Experience in administrative tasks related to retail management is preferred.
- A passion for retail sales with the ability to sell products effectively while providing excellent customer service.
