Job Summary
- *Previous experience as a Duty Manager looking to progress into an Assistant Front of House Manager role, or substantial experience managing a hotel reception or front office operation*
As the Assistant Hotel Front of House Manager, you will manage the day-to-day operations of the hotel reception, working closely with and reporting to the Hotel Front of House Manager.
Your role will include supervising and supporting the reception team, ensuring exceptional guest service, maintaining high operational standards, and overseeing the smooth running of all front-of-house activities.
You will lead by example, promote a positive and professional team environment, and ensure a seamless and efficient guest experience. In the absence of the Front of House Manager, you will assume responsibility for the department, including overseeing reservations, reviewing bookings, managing room availability, handling guest enquiries and escalations, and ensuring the continued efficient operation of the front office.
Responsibilities
- Assist in overseeing the front-of-house team, ensuring exceptional service at all times on reception & reservations.
- Support recruitment, training, and development of staff to maintain high performance and morale.
- Manage staff rotas, ensuring adequate coverage for all shifts.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints in a professional and efficient manner.
- Maintain cleanliness, presentation, and operational efficiency of the front-of-house area.
- Monitor and improve service standards, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for guests.
- Assist in managing reservations, bookings, and guest lists as required.
- Collaborate with management on promotions, events, and overall business strategies.
- Investigate and resolve banking and billing queries.
- Duty manager responsibilities across the hotel.
Experience
- Previous experience in a supervisory or management role within hospitality or customer service.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate a team.
- A customer-focused approach with a passion for delivering outstanding service.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations with professionalism.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Knowledge of booking/reservation systems is an advantage.
