As a Chef with Sodexo at MCTC Colchester, Berechurch Road, Colchester CO2 9NU, you'll play an important role in supporting military personnel every day. From preparing fresh, nutritious meals to maintaining the highest food safety standards, your work will make a real difference to the experience of those living and working on site.
Working as part of a supportive catering team, you'll help deliver breakfast, lunch, evening meals and hospitality functions, ensuring every customer receives excellent food and service.
What you’ll do:

Preparing, cooking and presenting high-quality meals in line with recipe cards and menu specifications

Assisting with breakfast, lunch, evening meals and hospitality functions
-
Ensuring food is prepared and served to the highest standards of quality, presentation and hygiene
-
Maintaining a clean, safe and organised kitchen environment
-
Following food safety, COSHH and health & safety procedures at all times
-
Supporting stock control, deliveries and food storage
-
Working closely with the wider catering team to ensure an excellent customer experience

Assisting with cleaning schedules and kitchen preparation for each service

Providing a friendly and professional service to customers and responding positively to requests

Continuing to develop your culinary skills through ongoing training and development
What we’re looking for:
-
Professional chef experience in a catering or hospitality setting
-
Recognised culinary qualifications (City & Guilds 706/1 & 2, NVQ Level 2/3)

Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and health regulations
-
Ability to work in a high-pressure, team-focused environment
-
A passion for cooking and delivering top-quality service
Desirable Skills:
-
Experience working in military or government catering
-
IOSH qualification or equivalent
-
Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
