We are seeking skilled and motivated Fire Door Joiners to support our continued growth across Scotland's Central Belt.
The Role
The successful candidate will carry out fire door installation, maintenance and remedial works across a range of projects including healthcare, education, commercial and public sector environments.
Working alongside our project delivery and compliance teams, you will ensure all work is completed to the highest standards of safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
Applicants should be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, repair and maintain certified fire doors and fire door sets.
- Carry out fire door remedial works in line with inspection reports and remedial schedules.
- Install and replace fire door ironmongery including door closers, hinges, locks and associated hardware.
- Adjust door leaves, frames and gaps to achieve compliance.
- Install intumescent seals, smoke seals and other fire door components.
- Assess existing fire doors and identify defects or compliance issues.
- Complete all work in accordance with relevant fire door standards, manufacturer instructions and certification requirements.
- Accurately record completed works using company systems.
- Take photographic evidence of completed works and maintain clear audit trails.
- Work closely with project managers, site teams and compliance personnel.
- Maintain high standards of health, safety and workmanship at all times.
- Support and mentor trainee joiners and apprentices where appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
- Proven joinery or carpentry experience.
- Previous experience installing, maintaining or repairing fire doors.
- Strong understanding of the importance of fire door compliance.
- Knowledge of fire door regulations and standards, including BS8214:2026.
- Ability to work accurately and consistently to a high standard.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to complete compliance documentation and records accurately.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to undergo a DBS/PVG background check.
Desirable
- Experience working within healthcare, education, commercial or occupied buildings.
- Knowledge of third-party certification schemes such as BM TRADA, IFC or Certifire.
- NVQ/SVQ qualifications in Joinery, Carpentry or Passive Fire Protection.
- Experience working from fire door inspection reports and remedial schedules.
- Experience mentoring apprentices or junior operatives.
