The Role
We are seeking an experienced chef to join our kitchen team. You will be responsible for preparing all dishes for a mix of breakfast, lunch and evenings, working 5 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality "Classic British" cuisine
- Cater to a wide range of dietary requirements (Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten-Free, etc.), ensuring these guests receive meals of equal quality to the main menu.
- Ensure strict hygiene standards, ensuring the kitchen meets all Health & Safety and Food Safety regulations.
- Maintain a positive, calm, and productive kitchen environment.
- Analyse guest numbers (typically 30–90 covers) and adjust ordering and prep levels to minimise waste.
The Ideal Candidate
You understand that Cober Hill is not a standard hotel or high-street restaurant; it is a destination with a specific, often mature clientele who appreciate quality and consistency.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of kitchen experience with references, OR a relevant Level 3 Professional Cookery qualification.
- Skill Set: Proven ability to produce high-volume, high-quality buffet food, alongside buffet
- Attitude: You are patient, organized, and you are comfortable working behind the scenes rather than seeking the spotlight.
- Dietary Knowledge: You view dietary requirements not as a nuisance, but as an essential part of modern hospitality, and you are confident in allergen management.
Service Times & Volume
- Average Covers: 30–40 guests (up to 90 at peak).
- Service Style: Classic 'Gala Dinner' style, plus tea-room light bites.
