Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical and electrical maintenance, with the ability to troubleshoot and repair various systems. This role requires a proactive approach to maintenance tasks, ensuring that all equipment operates efficiently and safely. The Maintenance Technician will also play a key role in supervising junior staff.
This is a shift-based role. Currently 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm. May move to a 3-shift pattern in the future. Flexibility required.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct routine maintenance on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and repair faults in electrical systems.
- Interpret schematics to diagnose issues and implement effective solutions.
- Maintain comprehensive records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and safety inspections.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure that all maintenance tasks are completed efficiently.
- Provide leadership and supervision to junior maintenance staff, fostering a collaborative work environment.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Identify and control parts and tools.
- Coach other members of the department.
- Work on equipment and facility projects.
Requirements
- Minimum Level 3 BTEC in an Engineering discipline.
- Proven experience in a maintenance role (at least 1 year), ideally working on motors, pumps, hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Proficiency in the maintenance of electrical systems. Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Flexibility needed around working hours, shift work, occasional weekend work.
Desirable
- HNC in an Engineering discipline
- Experience in the waste management/recycling sector
- Welding skills are advantageous but not mandatory.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £38,000.00-£42,000.00 per year
