ALS People are looking for candidates to work as LGV Mechanic for a well-known Recycling Company in Bedford (MK41 area).
Previous experience with HGV fitting is required.
DUTIES:
- Carry out assigned tasks and duties in a safe manner, in accordance with instructions, and to comply with safety rules/procedures, regulations and codes of practice.
- If aware of any unsafe practice or condition, or if in any doubt about the safety of any situation, consult their supervisor.
- Obtain and use the correct tools/equipment for the work and not to use any that are unsafe or damaged. All tools, equipment and personal protective equipment must be stored in the approved place after use.
- Ensure that all guards are securely fixed and that all safety equipment and personal protective clothing/equipment provided are used.
- Not to operate any plant or equipment unless authorised.
- To report any accident, near-miss, dangerous occurrence or dangerous condition to their line management.
- To switch off and secure unattended plant or equipment.
- To avoid improvised arrangements and suggest safe ways of eliminating hazards.
- Not to participate in horseplay or place fellow employees in danger by their actions.
- Adopt a proactive manner to energy usage and suggest ways of improving energy performance.
- To work as part of a team with in the Workshop
- To ensure that all regulations are followed in respect of the health and safety at work act and all other statutory regulations, as applied to work being carried out by the company
- To participate with ongoing training within the organisation to remain sufficiently skilled and to be able to fulfil their duties
- To ensure all work allocated is completed to an acceptable standard with regards to time and objectives
- Prepare and submit relevant paperwork/worksheets/records etc
- Ensure all operations are legally compliant and systems and procedures work with in the quality and environmental systems in place

ABOUT THE CANDIDATE:
- Previous knowledge of work as a LGV Mechanic
- Working with waste vehicles
- To have a full UK driving Licence.
- LGV class 2 driving entitlement preferred but not essential
WORKING HOURS:
- Monday to Friday: 08:00 until 17:00, 1 hour unpaid break
PAY RATES:
- Basic rate: £17 ph
- Overtime above 45h paid at £25.59, only be as required and not guaranteed
- Bank holidays / Sundays rate £34.12
