We're looking for a proactive and analytical Transport Planner to join our flagship Rugby Hub and play a key role in keeping our network moving efficiently. Working at the heart of our Transport Planning team, you'll create and manage daily transport plans, ensuring the right vehicles are in the right place at the right time. Using operational data and planning systems, you'll calculate trunk requirements, forecast volumes, plan routes and schedules, and make real-time adjustments to maintain service and cost performance.
Working closely with hubs, depots and operational stakeholders across the network, you'll use your transport knowledge and problem-solving skills to optimise capacity, improve efficiency and ensure our transport plans meet the demands of a fast-paced operation. Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm, plus 1 in 6 weeks working a late shift (1:00pm start)

What you’ll be doing:
- Produce and maintain daily hub transport plans using transport planning software.
- Calculate trunk requirements based on forecasted and actual parcel volumes.
- Plan transport routes, schedules and vehicle utilisation across the hub network.
- Build and maintain weekly trunk forecasts for publication across the business.
- Monitor and review transport plans, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Analyse plan versus actual performance data and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Produce reports, statistics and operational analysis for management teams.
- Support peak planning activities, ensuring appropriate transport capacity is available.
- Conduct cost modelling and analysis for new transport activities and network changes.
- Work closely with hub, depot and operational teams to ensure plans are deliverable and effectively executed.
- Challenge volume forecasts and operational assumptions where appropriate to maintain optimal resource utilisation.
- Support ongoing continuous improvement initiatives within transport planning and operations.
What you’ll bring to the role:
- Experience within transport planning, logistics, distribution or parcel operations.
- A strong understanding of transport networks, route planning, scheduling and trunking operations.
- Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, reporting and data analysis (macros desirable).
- Confidence using transport planning systems and analysing large data sets.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders and challenge constructively when needed.
- Excellent organisation, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise workloads independently.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong problem-solving skills and commercial awareness.
- Knowledge of driver legislation and transport compliance requirements is advantageous.
