POSITION TITLE: Afternoon Shift Operations Manager – Warehouse and Transport
LOCATION: Burbank
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager
ABOUT THE ROLE
This role plays a key part in the effective daily running of the warehouse operation and Transport Planning. As a Shift Operations Manager, you will lead a team of up to 10 colleagues, ensuring high levels of service, operational efficiency, and product quality as well as producing the daily Transport plans each afternoon. The hours and days of working at Sunday to Thursday 12:00 to 20:00.
You will be a people‑focused leader who supports, guides, and develops your team, fostering a positive working environment and helping colleagues achieve consistent high performance and right‑first‑time results whilst driving a culture of Health and Safety first.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carry out first‑level HR processes, including return‑to‑work interviews, conduct investigations, probation reviews, and accident/incident investigations.
- Promote and maintain a strong Health & Safety culture across the shift.
- Manage staffing levels to ensure adequate cover and efficient workflow.
- Create the daily Transport plans for a fleet of 7 to 8 vehicles.
- Respond to the duty mobile when on shift, addressing issues promptly and professionally.
- Communicate effectively with Team Managers on other shifts to ensure thorough and accurate handovers.
- Monitor and maintain pick accuracy, quality and packing accuracy throughout the shift.
- Undertake quality control (QC) tasks to ensure product intake quality is upheld.
- Ensure that operational processes and standard operating procedures are consistently followed.
- Maintain compliance with all food safety regulations and policies.
- At times, there will be a requirement to join the team in picking or driving counterbalance.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 2 year of Leadership experience.
- Previous knowledge of Transport planning (Desired)
- Experience working in the food industry (desired but not essential).
- Knowledge and understanding of warehouse operations.
- Experience operating counterbalance and narrow‑aisle reach trucks (desired but not essential).
- Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations.
- Previous experience supporting HR processes.
TERMS & CONDITIONS
· Remuneration: Up to £34,000 per annum
· Core hours: 40 hours 5 days per week. Sunday to Thursday 12:00 to 20:00
· Pension: Defined Contribution, auto enrolment 3 months, 3% Employer and 5% Employee
· Annual leave: 25 days + bank holidays
Pay: Up to £34,000.00 per year
