Blenheim High School is looking for two enthusiastic and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our supportive SEND team. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with students with special educational needs and disabilities, helping them access the curriculum, develop their independence and fulfil their potential.
You will work alongside our SENDCo, Deputy SENDCo and teaching staff to provide practical, academic and emotional support to students, both in the classroom and through targeted interventions.
About the role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support individuals and small groups of students in lessons and through targeted interventions
- Help students access the curriculum by preparing and adapting learning materials
- Provide encouragement, reassurance and appropriate personal or physical support
- Promote students’ confidence, independence and engagement in learning
- Monitor, assess and record students’ progress and the support provided
- Contribute to reviews and discussions about students’ needs and progress
- Liaise with primary schools to gather information supporting students’ transition into Year 7
- Assist with the supervision of students during break and lunchtime, where required
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider SEND team
- Help create a safe, inclusive and encouraging learning environment

Experience of working in a school, teaching assistant, nursing, caring or welfare role would be an advantage, as would knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and good ICT skills. However, your attitude, commitment and ability to build positive relationships with students are equally important.

Working pattern
Monday to Friday, term time only, for 37 weeks per year.
Normal working hours are 8:15am to 3:15pm, with a 4:15pm finish every other Wednesday for staff training.
