Padel8 is looking for a passionate, creative and reliable Sous Chef to join our team within our artisan café.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new and growing padel centre, combining sport, lifestyle, community and high-quality food and drink. Our café will serve players, members, families and visitors, offering freshly prepared food, artisan coffee, drinks, snacks, brunch-style dishes and light meals in a welcoming, modern environment.
Role Overview
As Sous Chef, you will support the day-to-day running of the café kitchen, helping to deliver fresh, high-quality food with consistency, care and attention to detail.
You will work closely with the Head Chef to prepare food, support menu development, maintain excellent hygiene standards and ensure the café operates smoothly during busy periods, events and tournaments.
The ideal candidate will be hands-on, organised, creative and passionate about good food, presentation and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the daily running of the artisan café kitchen at Padel8.
- Prepare and serve fresh food, brunch dishes, light meals, snacks and café-style menu items.
- Assist with menu development, specials and seasonal food ideas.
- Ensure all food is prepared and presented to a high standard.
- Maintain consistency in quality, portion control and presentation.
- Support food preparation for events, tournaments, social sessions, corporate bookings and private hire.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment at all times.
- Follow all food hygiene, allergen, health and safety procedures.
- Assist with stock control, deliveries, ordering and food rotation.
- Help minimise food waste and manage kitchen costs effectively.
- Work closely with front-of-house and barista staff to deliver a smooth customer experience.
- Support the training and development of junior kitchen or café staff where required.
- Step up and help manage kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef / Café Manager.
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef, Chef de Partie, Kitchen Supervisor or similar role.
- Experience in an artisan café, brunch venue, restaurant, hotel, deli, bakery café or quality food service environment would be desirable.
- Strong food preparation and cooking skills.
- Good understanding of food hygiene, allergens and kitchen safety.
- Passion for fresh food, quality ingredients and good presentation.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a busy café environment.
- Reliable, organised and able to work proactively.
- Positive attitude with strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Flexible availability, including weekends, evenings and bank holidays where required.
Desirable
- Food Hygiene Level 2 or above.
- Experience in working in hotel hospitality.
- Barista or drinks service knowledge would be an advantage.

Pay: £24,882.79-£41,463.17 per year
