We are a leading supplier of Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) and specialist safety products to hazardous industries including manufacturing, construction, engineering, utilities, offshore, chemical processing, healthcare and other high-risk environments.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for a motivated Hybrid Sales Executive to strengthen our sales team, developing both existing customer relationships and new business opportunities across the North East.
Trading for over 30 years as the market leader, manufacturing and supplying predominantly to the decontamination industry. SMH Products sell and hire plant and consumables to ensure the removal of contamination in a safe way whilst protecting the customers, employees and the working environment. With 8 trading regions around the UK, a central Warehouse coupled with a Head Office and production plant in the North East of England to support the regions.
The Role
SMH products Ltd have some ambitious growth plans over the next 5 years and are looking for an individual to join us on this exciting and ambitious journey. You will play a part in the team working to exceed your sales budgets and forecasting your portfolio of customers across the North East region. You will proactively visit potential and existing customers to promote our range of products and services via telephone calls, maximising both Sales and Profits.
The regional Branch is situated in Washington, Tyne & Wear and covers the geographically area of North East England.
We are looking for a self-motivated, tenacious, obsessed individual with a growth mindset to join our established and expanding external sales team. The successful candidate will manage existing customers but the main element of their role will be to target and generate new business via new accounts across current and new sectors, essentially a Hunter and a Farmer.

Account Management
- Make regular and scheduled face to face proactive customer contact in line with the Customer call strategy.
- Identify and act on sales opportunities within the customer base
- Build relationships with customer base and understand future potential
- Record and monitor activity within each account on a regular basis via CRM system
- Give insight on future customer needs to the business, colleagues in the team, Line Managers and Regional Managers
- Monitor customer sales at category level and act on any downturns or gaps in line with their user profile and potential.
- To build and compile annual budgets for customers within your remit/team.
- Proactively work with customer and SMH internal Stakeholders to ensure Account Payments are managed
Product Promotion and Potential
- Promote sales of key products and ranges as directed by campaigns
- Identify areas of potential within the product base and report to the business
- Gather competitor information
Reporting
- Manage a diary of customer contact - customer contact strategy
- Enter contact calls onto company CRM system (sales-i)
- To manage a Prospects Database to forecast against target
- Proactive within Sales meetings, sharing best practice, insight and assisting others when needed.
Experience in external sales is advantageous, but we are looking for an individual where the will, more than skill, is a requirement. Full training for the products and the sector, across all departments will be given. Irrelevant of the sector you have come from, we are looking for the person with transferable skills, such as interpersonal skills, communication and great customer service ethos coupled with the right attitude to grow with SMH Products Ltd in these very exciting times ahead.
A full induction, onboarding and Training programme will be put in place to enable you to confidently manage and sell into current and new customers.
