Job Summary
We are seeking an additional HGV 1 drivers for a tramping position to cover mainly containers but Curtainsider work will be there as a backup if containers go quiet.
The job Is collecting containers from either Immingham or Killingholme port and deliveries quite regular include to Cannock / Lidl Wednesbury but also other destinations will be as & when. Early starts maybe required / late finishes depending on on our booking times, and your hours will be utilised most days. Clean work / bay work. On top of the basic pay of £725.00 per week, is a £25.00 paperwork bonus if adhered to, daily meal allowance of £10.00 and nights out paid at £26.00 per night, pension scheme is available. Should the container work be cancelled due to shipping issues, then curtainsider or flat bed work would be available, but predominantly this role is for Containers.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial vehicles to deliver goods to specified locations.
- Plan routes efficiently to meet delivery schedules while adhering to legal driving hours and safety regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, ensuring it is in optimal condition and report any faults or issues.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs in accordance with company policies.
- Communicate effectively with the transport team regarding delivery status or any unforeseen delays.
- Adhere strictly to road safety laws and company policies during all driving activities.
Experience
- Proven experience as a commercial driver, preferably with delivery driver experience involving containers.
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices for commercial driving in the UK.
- Experience with route planning and navigation tools is advantageous.
- Familiarity with vehicle maintenance checks and basic troubleshooting skills.
- Demonstrated ability to operate trucks safely and efficiently under various conditions. This role requires a dedicated individual who values safety, punctuality, and professionalism in all aspects of their work.
