About Us
Darwin Lake Holiday Village is a luxury 4-star holiday destination and exclusive wedding venue located in the Peak District. Featuring 17 stone holiday cottages, an events venue, and 20 acres of woodland and grounds surrounding a private lake, we pride ourselves on offering an immaculate, high-quality experience for our guests.
The Role
We are looking for a skilled, versatile, and proactive Part-Time Maintenance / Handyman to look after our properties and infrastructure. The primary focus of this role is ensuring our 17 holiday cottages and wedding venue are maintained to an exceptional standard. You will also assist with general site duties and occasional groundskeeping to ensure the entire village runs smoothly.
This is an ideal role for a multi-skilled tradesperson or experienced DIY expert who enjoys variety, independent working, and taking pride in keeping a premium property well-maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Cottage & Venue Maintenance: Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across our holiday cottages and event spaces. This includes minor plumbing (unblocking sinks, replacing washers), basic carpentry (fixing doors, locks, and hinges), touch-up painting/decorating, and replacing light fittings/bulbs.
- Preventative Care: Checking gutters, clearing drains, testing smoke alarms, and identifying potential maintenance issues before they affect guests.
- Grounds & General Support: Assisting the team with general site duties, which may include helping with bin/recycling management, checking guest hot tubs, and occasional groundskeeping (e.g., keeping pathways clear, basic outdoor tidying).
- Problem Solving: Responding promptly and efficiently to maintenance requests raised by the housekeeping team or guests.
What We Are Looking For
- Strong, proven experience in general building maintenance, property repairs, or a similar handyman role.
- A wide range of practical skills (plumbing, carpentry, painting, general DIY).
- A proactive "can-do" attitude—someone who spots what needs doing and gets it done.
- Excellent attention to detail to maintain our 4-star standards.
- A friendly, professional, and discreet manner when working around holiday guests and wedding parties.
- A valid UK driving licence and reliable transport due to our rural Peak District location.
What We Offer
- A stunning, unique, and peaceful working environment.
- Flexible part-time hours to fit your lifestyle.
- A welcoming, supportive, and small team environment.
