South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (the Trust) and the Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) established the CRIS system and services in 2008. CRIS is a technical and governance solution enabling access to deidentified clinical data for research. A key component of the CRIS Security Model is the Communications Programme, ensuring stakeholders, including service users, can access information about CRIS. The programme is managed through the CRIS Extraction Service, supporting users to specify and extract data for research in line with CRIS governance requirements.
This is an exciting opportunity (fixed-term post, initially ending in March 2028) for an enthusiastic and analytical individual. Applicants should have research experience, including peer-reviewed publications; familiarity with clinical research datasets and information technology; service management experience; and organisational skills.
The Service Co-ordinator will lead the CRIS Communications Programme, including evaluation and development to improve transparency and access to CRIS information.
The Service Co-ordinator will also support the wider CRIS Extraction Service, including liaison with CRIS users on research feasibility; database querying; service administration; testing and evaluation of CRIS data and services; dissemination of findings; and publications.
The Service Co-ordinator will work with colleagues across the CRIS team and SLaM Clinical Informatics Services.
To manage and maintain the CRIS Communications Programme, including web content, leaflets, posters, presentations, publications and other materials.
To evaluate and improve the Communications Programme to maximise effectiveness and stakeholder engagement.
To report to the CRIS Oversight Committee on programme activity, performance and outcomes.
To manage and support CRIS Service User Advisory Groups.
To coordinate CRIS and CIS content across Trust and BRC websites with Communications Teams.
To respond to enquiries from researchers, service users and other stakeholders, including feasibility queries and user training.
To undertake simple SQL-based data extraction tasks.
To support administration of the CRIS Extraction Service, including project allocation, specifications, workflows and tracking systems.
To support evaluation of Extraction Service performance against agreed standards and publication of results.
To coordinate reporting of CRIS and Clinical Informatics performance metrics through the monthly Balanced Business Scorecard.
To work with the Research Clinical Informatics Lead in evaluation and development of the service model.
To work with the CRIS Academic Lead in evaluating CRIS data and usage, including journal submissions and publications.
To provide cover for other CRIS administrative tasks.

About the Location
The job will be based at the IoPPN Main Building, part of the wider Denmark Hill campus shared by SLaM and King's College London. The IoPPN main building is home to the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience .
Denmark Hill is very well connected and staff can reach Victoria or Blackfriars stations in 10 minutes by train, and East London is 25 minutes by overground.

An essential component of the CRIS Security Model is the Communications Programme, through which all relevant stakeholders including Trust service users are able to access information about CRIS. The management, maintenance and iterative evaluation of the CRIS Communications Programme is a component of the CRIS Extraction Service. The core purpose of this service is to support users of CRIS in specifying and extracting appropriate data to address specific research questions in line with the standards and requirements of the CRIS Security Model and the CRIS Extraction Service Model.
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, enthusiastic and analytical individual with excellent written and spoken communication skills and experience; research experience, including relevant peer-review publication; familiarity with clinical research datasets, a good grasp of information technology; proven track record of operational service management and excellent organisational skill.
The CRIS Communications and Extraction Service Co-ordinator will lead on delivering the CRIS Communications programme, including rolling evaluation of its effectiveness and on-going develop and updates to the programme to optimise transparency and access to information about CRIS to relevant and interested stakeholders.
The Service Co-ordidnator will support delivery of all other elements of the CRIS Extraction Service, including liaising with CRIS users and research feasibility and scope; database querying; administration of the Extraction Service; testing and evaluation, e.g. of CRIS data and services performance and publishing of results; authoring relevant research publications.
The Service Co-ordinator will be pro-active in their role. They will work collaboratively and closely with others in the wider CRIS and SLAM Clinical Informatics Services.
Key Responsibilities:
Ø To manage and maintain the CRIS Communications Programme, including all web-based communication; leaflets and posters; direct presentations; articles and publications and all other forms of communication.
Ø To continuously evaluate and adapt this Programme of work to optimise its effectiveness
Ø To Report directly to the CRIS Oversight Committee on all relevant activities, plans, evaluation and performance of the Communications Programme.
Ø To manage and support relevant CRIS Service User Advisory groups
Ø To manage content and co-ordinate the CRIS and CIS pages on relevant BRC and Trust websites, including working directly with relevant Communication Teams
Ø To field enquiries from interested parties, including supporting CRIS drop ins; addressing feasibility queries; user-training etc.
Ø To carry out simple data extraction tasks in SQL
Ø To support the end-to-end administration of the CRIS Extraction Service, including allocation of projects for specification and data extraction and maintaining all relevant service tracking systems.
Ø To support routine evaluation of the Extraction Service performance against commitments and standards in the written service model, and publish results
Ø To coordinate publication of performance of all CRIS and Clinical Informatics services through the monthly Balanced Business Scorecard.
Ø To work under the direction of the Research Clinical Informatics Lead in continuous evaluation and development of the service model
Ø To work under the direction of the CRIS Academic Lead in CRIS data and usage evaluation, including writing up and submission to relevant journals and publications
