Commercial & Operational Lead – North
Location: Manchester | Full-time, Permanent | Salary: £50,000–£65,000
The Opportunity
Dwelling Doctors is the industry-leading specialist in condensation and mould, working with some of the UK's largest social housing providers. With established teams in Manchester and Rotherham and a rapidly growing client base, we are looking for an experienced and ambitious Commercial & Operational Lead to take senior ownership of the commercial performance, strategic client relationships and continued growth of our Northern business.
Working through our Account Management and Operational leadership teams, you will provide the commercial direction, challenge and support needed to deliver strong client and resident outcomes through commercially successful, sustainable contracts. This is a genuine senior leadership opportunity to influence the direction of the Northern business, develop high-performing teams, strengthen key client relationships and play a major role in our next phase of growth.
What You'll Own
You will take senior responsibility for the commercial health and performance of the Northern contract portfolio, including revenue, margin, profitability, forecasting, cost-to-serve, contractual scope, variations, pricing, renewals, commercial risk and organic account growth. You will identify where value can be improved, reduce commercial leakage and ensure the right actions are taken to maximise contract performance.
You will also lead and develop our Northern Account Management function, setting expectations, challenging performance and supporting managers with complex client relationships and negotiations. Alongside this, you will provide senior leadership across key client and contract reviews, renewals, variations and escalations, positioning Dwelling Doctors as a strategic partner. Working closely with operational leadership, you will connect commercial and operational performance by reviewing KPIs, SLAs, WIP, capacity, productivity, service failures and issues affecting margin or client relationships.
What We're Looking For
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience managing large, complex social housing contracts or portfolios, ideally within repairs and maintenance, property services, compliance, planned works, surveying, damp and mould or a similar environment.
You should have strong experience in P&L and contract profitability, commercial contract management, senior client relationships, negotiations and variations, account management leadership, forecasting, risk management, account growth and KPI/SLA-driven contracts. Most importantly, you will be commercially driven, client credible, operationally intelligent and confident leading through others. You will be comfortable challenging established ways of working, taking ownership of outcomes and finding practical, solutions-focused ways to improve performance.
Why Join Dwelling Doctors?
This is an exciting time to join a rapidly growing market leader. You'll have genuine commercial influence, the opportunity to shape our Northern operation, work with senior stakeholders across major social housing organisations and develop alongside an ambitious leadership team. Our culture is built around People First, Disrupting the Industry, Positive & Solutions-Driven Thinking, and Excellence & Accountability.
For the right person, this is an opportunity to take significant commercial ownership of our Northern business, influence key client relationships and play a central role in the continued growth of Dwelling Doctors.
