We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Activity Co-ordinator to join our Residential Care Home.
The Activity Co-ordinator plays a vital role in organising and facilitating activities that enhance the physical, emotional and social well-being of our service users.
You will help create engaging, inclusive and meaningful activities that are tailored to the diverse needs, interests and abilities of the individuals we support.
Key ResponsibilitiesPlanning and Organising Activities
- Develop and maintain a calendar of activities and events to suit different preferences and abilities.
- Research and introduce innovative ideas to keep activities fresh, engaging and enjoyable.
- Ensure activities align with the goals of the organisation.
Engaging Participants
- Encourage active participation and foster a strong sense of community.
- Build positive relationships with service users to understand their interests and individual needs.
- Create an inclusive environment where individuals from all backgrounds feel welcome.
- Work in line with company policies, procedures and CQC requirements.
Managing Resources
- Coordinate with staff, volunteers and external vendors to arrange equipment and supplies.
- Manage resources effectively and support cost-effective activity planning.
- Oversee the set-up and clean-up of activities, ensuring they are carried out safely and in an organised manner.
Evaluation and Feedback
- Monitor the success and engagement of activities.
- Gather feedback from participants and use this to improve future activities.
- Adapt activity plans based on feedback and evaluation.
- Prepare reports on engagement levels and outcomes for relevant stakeholders.
Essential Skills
We are looking for someone who demonstrates:
- Organisation – the ability to manage schedules, resources and logistics effectively.
- Communication – strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with diverse groups.
- Creativity – the ability to develop innovative activities that engage and enrich participants.
- Empathy – an understanding of individual needs and preferences and the ability to tailor activities accordingly.
- Problem-solving – the ability to respond quickly and effectively to challenges or unexpected situations.
Qualifications and Experience
- An educational background in social work, recreation management or a related discipline is desirable but not essential.
- Experience in activity planning or working with specific groups, such as children or older adults, is desirable.
- First aid and safety certifications may be required depending on the nature of the activities.
