Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious and appealing meals for children in a nursery setting, ensuring high standards of food safety and hygiene. Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of nutritious meals and snacks suitable for children in accordance with dietary guidelines and nursery policies.
- Plan menus that are balanced, appealing, and meet nutritional standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering to food safety regulations at all times.
- Ensure all food is stored correctly, labelled, and rotated according to safety standards.
- Assist in the procurement of ingredients and supplies needed for meal preparation.
- Follow hygiene procedures during food handling, preparation, and serving to prevent contamination.
- Collaborate with nursery staff to accommodate special dietary requirements or allergies.
- Monitor food portions and presentation to ensure consistency and quality.
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, preferably within a childcare or similar environment.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in kitchen hygiene.
- Experience with meal preparation for children, including understanding of nutritional needs.
- Previous restaurant or catering experience is advantageous but not essential.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation.
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail in food presentation and safety procedures.
- A friendly, caring attitude with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- A criminal record and two references will be required.
