Are you an experienced information analyst who enjoys turning complex data into insight that makes a difference? South East Coast Ambulance Service is looking for a Senior Information Analyst to join our Business Intelligence team on a 9-month fixed-term basis.
You'll provide intelligent information and analysis to senior managers and operational teams across the Trust, helping to improve performance across our service lines. Working with SQL, Power BI and advanced Excel, you'll plan, design and develop key reporting systems – including the Monthly Contract Monitoring report and commissioning/statutory returns – respond to information requests from internal and external stakeholders, and provide expert advice on statistical and analytical approaches. You'll also lead the day-to-day work of our Data Validation Team and help colleagues across the Trust build their data skills.

Plan, design and develop essential reporting systems and dashboards for the Trust and external stakeholders, using SQL, Power BI and advanced Excel.
Analyse highly complex statistical information drawn from multiple, sometimes conflicting sources, and design performance-improvement reporting.
Develop and produce the Monthly Contract Monitoring report and support the timely submission and data quality of commissioning datasets and other statutory returns.
Provide intelligent information and expert statistical/analytical advice to senior managers and operational teams to improve service performance.
Present and interpret complex, sensitive information for a range of audiences (e.g. operational team meetings, area governance reviews) and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including acute Trusts and commissioning bodies.
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data, complying with Trust policies, national guidelines, data protection and Caldicott principles.
Provide day-to-day management of the Data Validation Team within Business Intelligence.
Deliver specialist training (e.g. SQL, Power BI) to internal and external users and promote wider data literacy across the Trust.
Develop knowledge of national and contractual KPIs and ensure performance targets are recorded and reported correctly.

Communication and relationship skills
Use visuals to present complex data so that it is compelling, accessible and easy to understand.
Communicate primarily with internal stakeholders at all levels (operational managers, the software development team and Trust leadership), attending meetings as required, while also maintaining strong relationships with external stakeholders such as acute Trusts and commissioning bodies, including supporting responses to information requests.
Communicate often extremely complex and sensitive information to users of varying levels of understanding; information may be conflicting or contentious and likely to be challenged, and many reports affect the Trust's compliance with regulatory bodies (e.g. CQC) and therefore its reputation.
Present and interpret detailed information and updates to large groups on a regular basis (e.g. operational team meetings, area governance reviews).
Provide regular updates to the Business Intelligence Manager on the progress of work and any emerging issues or challenges in meeting agreed delivery deadlines.
Provide training on the Trust's reporting software to internal and external users of all skill levels.

Consider the impact on servers and the data warehouse when developing reports and writing SQL queries.
Take responsibility for the development and production of the Monthly Contract Monitoring report.
Leadership, training and human resources
Provide day-to-day management of the Data Validation Team within Business Intelligence.
Facilitate training within the BI team on developing programs and systems, new processes and reports.
Provide specialist training for applications such as SQL and Power BI, and develop reports to support the monitoring of staff performance.
Undertake ongoing development in Power BI reporting, best practice and visual interpretation.

Develop a high degree of knowledge of key performance indicators in terms of national and contractual requirements.
Apply specialist SQL Server skills combined with expert knowledge of operational data and Business Intelligence reporting (e.g. Power BI), and develop and maintain data models that support information systems used across the Trust.
Apply knowledge of the responsible use of artificial intelligence to aid analytical skills.

Research the impact of service changes due to NHS reconfigurations, and provide information on the options and costs associated with changes in the Trust.
Suggest service improvements through verifiable and clearly presented information, and provide reports to help managers plan staff provision.
Apply creative and innovative techniques and learning to the running of BI projects, including learning from others outside the BI team, and support quality improvement across the Trust through the provision of relevant information.
