Part-Time IT Support Specialist — Temporary Contract

Schedule: Approximately 24 hours per week, with onsite coverage required at least two partial days per week
Contract: Temporary/interim assignment; 3-4 Months
Position Summary
The IT Support Specialist will provide day-to-day technical support for employees in a primarily Windows-based environment. This position will focus on resolving common support tickets, troubleshooting workstations and Microsoft applications, setting up equipment and user accounts, and providing onsite assistance when physical access to technology is required.
This is a temporary role providing coverage while the organization recruits a permanent employee. There is no current commitment to permanent conversion.
Primary Responsibilities
- Respond to and resolve Level 1 and Level 2 end-user support tickets.
- Troubleshoot Windows computers, laptops, peripherals, printers, and common business applications.
- Support Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
- Assist with user accounts, passwords, permissions, and basic Active Directory or Microsoft Entra ID administration.
- Set up, configure, deploy, and replace computers and other end-user equipment.
- Provide basic network troubleshooting for connectivity, Wi-Fi, VPN, DNS, and related issues.
- Perform onsite remote-hands activities under the direction of the infrastructure team.
- Assist remote users in other European locations when needed.
- Escalate complex infrastructure, server, cloud, security, and networking issues to the appropriate engineering team.
- Document incidents, resolutions, equipment changes, and recurring issues.
- Maintain accurate inventory and assist with equipment shipping, receiving, and organization.
- Communicate clearly with users and provide timely updates on open requests.
Required Skills and Experience
- One to two years of experience in desktop support, service desk, IT support, or a similar role.
- Hands-on experience supporting Windows computers in a business environment.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications and administration.
- Basic experience with Active Directory or Microsoft Entra ID.
- Working knowledge of workstation, network, VPN, printer, and peripheral troubleshooting.
- Ability to resolve routine technical issues independently and recognize when escalation is required.
- Strong customer-service, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Dependable and able to work independently in a part-time onsite role.
- Ability to document work clearly in a ticketing or service-management system.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both local and remote technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Intune or endpoint-management tools.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Defender, Exchange Online, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Basic exposure to switches, firewalls, servers, virtualization, backups, or cloud environments.
- Experience providing remote-hands support for an infrastructure or network team.
- Relevant Microsoft, CompTIA, or IT service-management certification.
Physical Requirements
The position may require standing, walking, bending, reaching, and working around desks or equipment areas. The individual must be able to move and install computers, monitors, printers, and related equipment weighing up to approximately 23 kilograms/50 pounds, with assistance when appropriate.

Pay: £22.00-£24.00 per hour
