The Role
Erskine Stewart Melville are currently recruiting for a Teacher of Computing to join the Senior School Computing Department on a Permanent basis, with an immediate start available (subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks). The role is full time with a salary of £52,508. The role is based at ESM Senior School on the Queensferry Road site.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about engaging with current research, reflecting critically on their practice, and contributing to professional dialogue around effective teaching and learning. Approaches to learning should be informed by recognised frameworks, including the Raspberry Pi Foundation’s 12 Principles of Computing Pedagogy.
The department’s core curriculum is built around Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL and PHP. The successful candidate will possess strong expertise in these languages and be willing to explore and introduce emerging languages, tools and technologies where they enhance pupils’ learning and understanding. The role will include duties such as:

Prepare and deliver appropriate lessons to classes S1 to S6

Assess student progress of students via formal and informal assessment

Report on progress and give feedback as part of our reporting process
The successful candidate must have General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) registration, or be eligible for registration, have a recognised teaching qualification and a subject specific degree level qualification. The post holder should have the ability to multitask and prioritise own workload with good attention to detail and should be passionate about Computing and about promoting Computing to young people
