Experienced Bricklayer
Location: Newport and surrounding South Wales

Pay: £17.25 per hour – approximately £35,880 per year based on a 40-hour week
The Role
Tekton Developments is looking for an experienced bricklayer to join our growing team on a permanent, employed basis.
We specialise in high-quality residential extensions, renovations and bespoke builds across South Wales.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, can work independently and has the experience to take responsibility for the masonry elements of our projects.
This is a long-term position within a growing company, with opportunities to develop into greater site and supervisory responsibility over time.

What You'll Be Doing
Your main responsibility will be carrying out and taking ownership of masonry works across our residential projects.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Bricklaying, blockwork and general masonry works
- Working from architectural and construction drawings
- Planning upcoming masonry work and material requirements
- Working to agreed project programmes
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship
- Working closely with our Works Manager and other members of the build team
- Coordinating your work with carpentry, civils and specialist trades
- Identifying potential issues early and helping find practical solutions
- Assisting with relevant structural works, including steel installation where required
- Supporting civils activities associated with masonry works
- Maintaining a safe, organised and professional site
- Communicating professionally with colleagues, subcontractors and customers
What We're Looking For
We are looking for an experienced bricklayer who is reliable, organised and capable of working without constant supervision.
You should ideally have:
- NVQ Level 2 Bricklaying or equivalent
- Around 5–10 years' relevant experience
- Experience working on residential extensions, renovations or similar projects
- Ability to work confidently from drawings
- Good time management and organisational skills
- High standards of workmanship
- Good communication skills
- A proactive approach to solving problems
- Full UK driving licence
Experience taking responsibility for masonry works, supervising others or supporting site management would be an advantage, but isn't essential.
