Overview
To plan and lead safe, inclusive and engaging youth work activities for children and young people during Rotunda’s school holiday clubs. The role will support participation, wellbeing, confidence and positive relationships. Forest school, outdoor learning and nature-based experience is desirable.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver fun, safe and age-appropriate youth work, play, wellbeing and personal development activities.
- Lead sessions that encourage participation, confidence, teamwork, communication and positive relationships.
- Support children and young people to have a voice, make choices and take part in activities safely and meaningfully.
- Supervise children and young people during activities, meals, trips, transitions and free play.
- Work with staff, volunteers, parents, carers and partners to ensure sessions run smoothly.
- Maintain resources, records, registers, consent forms, risk assessments and incident reports as required.
Person Specification
Essential
- Experience working with children and/or young people in youth work, community, play, education, childcare or holiday provision.
- Ability to plan and lead safe, inclusive and engaging activities.
- Good understanding of safeguarding, child protection, professional boundaries and behaviour support.
- Good communication, teamwork and organisational skills.
- Reliable, flexible and committed to equality, inclusion and supporting children from diverse backgrounds.
Desirable
- Level 2 or Level 3 Youth Work qualification, or equivalent experience.
- Paediatric first aid, emergency first aid or food hygiene qualification.
- Experience delivering HAF, holiday club, after school club, SEND support or community play provision.
- Experience or skills in forest school, outdoor learning, nature-based activities, gardening, environmental education or outdoor cooking.
