Deputy Manager – Residential Children’s Home

Pay: £15.21 per hour
Sleep-in payment: £45 per sleep-in
Job type: Full-time, permanent
Shift pattern: 2 days on, 4 days off, including sleep-ins

About the role
Amber Complex Care is recruiting experienced Deputy Managers for a therapeutic residential children’s home.
The home supports two young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties and provides a safe, stable and supportive environment.
The service is based in a small two-bedroom bungalow in a quiet, remote location and follows a therapeutic parenting approach.
The home currently holds a Good Ofsted rating.
As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the home and help lead the staff team.
Main responsibilities
Your duties will include:
- Supporting the Registered Manager with the daily running of the home
- Leading and supporting staff during shifts
- Managing and allocating day-to-day tasks
- Supervising staff performance and providing guidance
- Completing clear and accurate reports
- Helping maintain high standards of care
- Supporting safeguarding and safe working practices
- Helping ensure the home remains organised, safe and therapeutic
- Supporting staff development and performance
- Promoting positive outcomes for the young people
Essential requirements
Applicants must have:
- NVQ Level 3 or Level 4 in Children and Young People, or an equivalent qualification
- At least two years’ relevant experience
- Experience working in residential children’s homes
- Previous senior, team leader or deputy management experience
- A full UK driving licence
- The right to work in the UK
- Good written communication and report-writing skills
- The confidence to lead and support a staff team

An Enhanced DBS is required. Applicants who do not currently hold a suitable DBS must be willing to complete the required checks.
Desirable qualifications
Additional qualifications relating to childcare, residential childcare or management would be beneficial.
