Overview
We are looking for a talented, self-motivated Chef to take full ownership of our kitchen. This is primarily a solo role — you will work independently for most shifts, preparing fresh, high-quality dishes from scratch in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
The successful candidate will have strong culinary skills, excellent food safety knowledge, and the drive to deliver outstanding food and presentation every service. You will manage everything from prep and cooking to ordering and kitchen organisation, with the freedom to put your own stamp on the menu while maintaining our high standards. This role suits someone who thrives on autonomy and takes pride in fresh, seasonal cooking.
Key Responsibilities
Independently prepare and cook a wide range of fresh, seasonal dishes to consistent high standards
Manage all kitchen operations single-handedly, including prep, service, and post-service cleaning
Maintain strict food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards at all times
Control inventory, place orders with suppliers, and minimise waste while maximising freshness
Develop and refine menu items, incorporating fresh, seasonal, and local produce
Ensure every plate leaving the kitchen meets our standards for presentation, flavour, and quality
Work closely with front-of-house to deliver smooth, timely service
Keep the kitchen clean, organised, and fully functional at all times
Support overall restaurant operations during busy periods as required
Skills & Experience
Proven experience working independently (or in very small teams) in a professional kitchen
Strong background in fresh, from-scratch cooking with a good understanding of seasonal ingredients
Excellent knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations (Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate or equivalent required; Level 3 preferred)
Confident menu development skills with a focus on fresh, quality produce
Outstanding organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload efficiently
Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure during busy service
High standards of food presentation and attention to detail
Reliable, self-disciplined, and able to maintain kitchen standards without supervision
Good communication skills to liaise effectively with front-of-house and management
