Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive Oxygen Manager for our oxygen therapy department, to oversee and coordinate all aspects of the safe and compliant delivery of oxygen therapy at Merlin Neuro Therapy Centre.
Our charity provides therapy, support, information and community for people living with long-term neurological conditions and people who are neurodiverse. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our therapy services by leading and supporting the daily operations of our team of staff and volunteer Oxygen Operators and providing our clients with the highest possible standards of care.
Responsibilities
- To lead the operations of the Oxygen Therapy department, implement best practice and ensure safe and compliant operation of the oxygen system and delivery of Oxygen Therapy services.
- To maintain a thorough knowledge of the theory and practice of Oxygen Therapy including current legislation, safe operating procedures, the Training and Reference Manual and the Code of Construction and Working Practice.
- To ensure that staff and volunteers are kept up to date with any changes and/or new practices.
- To maintain a thorough knowledge of the training requirements for Oxygen Operators and to deliver training to staff and volunteers to maintain high levels of competency and professionalism.
- To uphold safety standards and ensure equipment is checked and safe to be used.
- To keep records of faults and incidents involving oxygen therapy systems and sessions.
- To manage the recording of information regarding our clients including the monitoring and evaluating of sessions carried out.
- To review and develop procedures and initiatives to enhance and improve efficiencies within the department.
- To manage the staff and volunteer team.
Key Tasks
- To ensure the effective daily running of the Oxygen Therapy department.
- To open and close the department as required including using the oxygen plant and chamber equipment.
- To conduct regular safety inspections and emergency drills in accordance with guidance from the Facilities Manager.
- To carry out equipment maintenance checks daily and report any defects to the Facilities Manager.
- To support the staff and volunteer team in carrying out their role as Oxygen Operators.
- To maintain and utilise data of service delivery to monitor and evaluate efficiency and maximise capacity.
- To manage all aspects of contact with clients from initial enquiry and onboarding to therapy delivery and signposting to other support services.
- To maintain strict confidentiality of all information relating to clients and their relatives or carers.
- To assist clients who require physical help with getting in and out of the oxygen chamber.
- To carry out supervision and appraisal of staff.
- To deliver and participate in staff meetings, staff training and development activities.
- To undertake training as required to achieve and maintain an acceptable level of competence in all aspects of the job.
- To ensure that the department and equipment is properly cleaned and maintained.
- To promote and develop the Oxygen Therapy Service to individuals, groups and organisations with the support of the Service Development Lead and Marketing and Engagement Manager
Main role requirements
- Good standard of general education, including GCSE (or equivalent) Grade 4 / Grade C or above in English and Maths.
- Competent digital skills.
- Willingness and ability to undertake all required training, including Oxygen Therapy Operator training.
- A strong understanding of hyperbaric oxygen therapy procedures, safety standards and regulatory compliance requirements or a willingness to learn.
- Experience of working in a customer-facing health, care, charity or community setting providing a service to individuals.
- Experience of coordinating, supervising and/or supporting staff and/or volunteers.
- Experience of working with multidisciplinary team members.
