Teaching Assistant & School Support Assistant (Reception Class)
Term Time Only | Monday–Friday | 8:30am–3:30pm
We are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic and highly organised Teaching Assistant to join our friendly independent school.
This is a varied and rewarding role based primarily within our Reception class, although the successful candidate will also support across the wider school community. We are looking for a positive, proactive “hands-on” person who enjoys helping wherever needed and thrives in a busy school environment.
The ideal candidate will be efficient, adaptable and full of initiative, with strong ICT and organisational skills and a genuine passion for supporting children and staff alike.
With small class sizes and a caring, nurturing atmosphere, our school offers a wonderful environment for someone who is supportive, cheerful and committed to helping every child achieve their full potential.
The successful candidate will work with children aged 4–11 years and will support the Headteacher, teaching staff and pupils throughout the school day, primarily within Reception.
Key Responsibilities
- Hearing children read
- Supporting phonics, literacy, numeracy and early learning skills
- Working with small groups of pupils
- Helping children develop confidence in reading, writing and maths
- Assisting with the preparation and organisation of indoor and outdoor learning areas
- Supporting role play, creative and construction activities
- Creating attractive classroom and board displays
- Providing caring and positive support throughout the school day
- Assisting with general school administration
- Supporting with office tasks including Word and Excel
- Helping wherever needed to ensure the smooth running of the school

This is a term-time only position, working 36 weeks per year, Monday to Friday from 8:30am–3:30pm.
Annual Salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience approx £19,573.40
