Heating & HVAC Engineer
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Heating & HVAC Engineer to join our growing team and work across a varied portfolio of high-end residential, commercial, healthcare, hospital, and specialist projects throughout the South East of England.
The main areas of work will be Sussex, Surrey, and London, although projects may also be located across other parts of the South East.
You will be involved in the installation, servicing, maintenance, fault finding, commissioning, and handover of heating, cooling, hot-water, ventilation, and mechanical systems. Projects will include bespoke homes, high-specification commercial premises, hospitals, healthcare facilities, and complex plant-room installations.
The role may also involve working on specialist decontamination and decontamination-related systems within hospital and healthcare environments, where strict hygiene, safety, infection-control, and compliance procedures must be followed.

Location & Travel
The role will mainly be based across Sussex, Surrey, and London, with projects also located throughout the wider South East of England.
Additional work may be available in areas such as Kent, Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, and surrounding regions.
The role will involve travelling between customer sites, construction projects, commercial premises, hospitals, healthcare facilities, and other specialist locations. Applicants should be comfortable travelling throughout the South East and working at different sites as required.

Key Responsibilities
● Install, commission, service, maintain, and repair heating, cooling, hot-water, ventilation, and mechanical systems.
● Complete domestic and commercial boiler installations and servicing.
● Carry out full mechanical and plant-room installations.
● Install and maintain heat pumps, unvented cylinders, air-conditioning systems, chillers, ventilation systems, and oil boilers.
● Install and modify heating, chilled-water, hot-water, ventilation, and associated pipework.
● Work on hospital and healthcare projects in accordance with site-specific procedures and requirements.
● Assist with the installation, servicing, maintenance, and testing of decontamination and specialist healthcare systems where required.
● Follow strict infection-control, hygiene, cleanliness, and contamination-prevention procedures when working in hospitals and healthcare environments.
● Diagnose faults and troubleshoot mechanical, heating, cooling, ventilation, decontamination, and control-system issues.
● Work from drawings, specifications, schematics, manufacturers’ instructions, risk assessments, and method statements.
● Carry out system testing, balancing, commissioning, validation support, and handover.
● Complete work safely, neatly, efficiently, and to the required specification.
● Maintain a high standard of workmanship, particularly on high-end, bespoke, hospital, and healthcare projects.
● Communicate professionally with clients, contractors, site managers, facilities teams, healthcare representatives, and other trades.
● Coordinate work with other contractors and site personnel to minimise disruption and maintain project progress.
● Complete job sheets, service reports, commissioning documentation, maintenance records, and site paperwork accurately.
● Maintain tools, equipment, vehicles, and work areas to a professional standard.
● Follow all relevant health and safety procedures, infection-control requirements, permit systems, and industry standards.
● Wear and use the required personal protective equipment and follow site access and security procedures.
● Work independently when required while contributing positively to the wider team.
● Report defects, safety concerns, access issues, or additional work requirements promptly.
Requirements
● Proven experience in heating, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical services, or a related trade.
● Experience with domestic and/or commercial boiler installations and servicing.
● Experience with pipe fitting and mechanical pipework.
● Strong practical and mechanical knowledge.
● Ability to diagnose faults and troubleshoot systems effectively.
● Good understanding of heating, hot-water, cooling, ventilation, and mechanical systems.
● Experience working on commercial, healthcare, hospital, or other specialist projects would be advantageous.
● Awareness of the importance of hygiene, infection control, cleanliness, and safe working practices in healthcare environments.
● Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
● Good communication and customer-service skills.
● Professional appearance and manner.
● Full UK driving licence preferred.
● Ability to travel throughout the South East and between different project sites.
● Ability to safely handle equipment and work in physically demanding environments.
● Strong understanding of health and safety and safe working practices.

● Ability to work respectfully and professionally in sensitive environments, including hospitals and occupied healthcare facilities.
