Optical Assistant | Independent Practice | South Manchester

We're looking for an experienced Optical Assistant to join our friendly, independent community practice in South Manchester.

The Role
- Welcome and support patients throughout their visit.
- Dispense, fit and adjust spectacles.
- Confidently assist patients with frame styling and lens recommendations, helping maximise spectacle sales through expert advice.
- Process spectacle orders accurately and liaise with laboratories and suppliers.
- Book appointments, manage enquiries and maintain accurate patient records using optical practice management software.
- Help maintain a professional, organised practice.
- Support the growth of the practice through patient loyalty, referrals and excellent service.
- Assist with local marketing initiatives, social media and community engagement to raise the practice's profile.
- Contribute ideas that help attract new patients and strengthen our presence within the local community.
- Work closely with the team to deliver an outstanding patient experience.
Essential Requirements
- Confident dispensing spectacles and carrying out fittings and adjustments.
- Experienced in processing spectacle orders accurately and liaising with suppliers and laboratories.
- Comfortable recommending frames and lenses, with the ability to confidently maximise spectacle sales through expert, patient-focused advice.
- Competent using optical practice management software and maintaining accurate patient records.
- Commercially aware, with a passion for delivering outstanding patient care while identifying opportunities to recommend the most suitable products.
- Proactive, organised and able to work independently as well as part of a close-knit team.
Previous experience as an Optical Assistant is essential for this role. We're looking for someone who can confidently step into the practice with a strong understanding of the day-to-day responsibilities of an optical environment, bringing the knowledge, professionalism and initiative needed to become a valued member of our team from day one.
