CJM Associates is a leading Chartered Certified Accountancy Practice based in Cannock, supporting businesses across Staffordshire and the Midlands. We provide expert accountancy, tax, advisory, payroll, bookkeeping, VAT and R&D tax relief services to a wide range of clients, from sole traders and family-run businesses to growing companies in the construction and property sectors.
We're growing and looking for a talented Senior Accountant to join our ambitious team in Cannock. This is an opportunity to take ownership of a varied client portfolio, develop long-term client relationships and play a key role in the future growth of the firm.
The Role
As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients and delivering a high standard of accounting and tax services. You will work closely with directors and clients, providing proactive advice and helping businesses achieve their financial goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation and review of statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders
- Preparation and review of corporation tax returns
- Preparation and review of personal tax returns
- Management of client relationships and acting as a trusted adviser
- Reviewing bookkeeping and VAT returns
- Supporting clients with business growth, tax planning and financial management
- Assisting and mentoring junior members of the team
- Liaising with HMRC and third parties on behalf of clients
- Identifying opportunities to add value through advisory services
About You
You'll be a confident practice accountant who enjoys building client relationships, solving business challenges and delivering excellent service. You'll be comfortable managing deadlines, communicating with clients and supporting junior colleagues.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 7 years' experience within an accountancy practice
- Strong experience preparing accounts for SMEs
- Solid knowledge of corporation tax, personal tax and VAT
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable
- ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualification
- Experience with cloud accounting software including Xero, QuickBooks or Sage
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff
