Information about the role
You will join a substantial team that sits at the heart of the CTP network. The Data and Analysis Pillar is responsible for delivering Intelligence Analysis & Research, Data Science, Science & Innovation and Data Standards. Our vision is that CTP becomes an intelligence led and data-centric organisation, with the right data exploitable by the whole network against any threat, utilising the best available capabilities, while maintaining legal compliance and public trust.
Working within the CTPHQ Analysis & Research (A&R) team, you will play a part in setting the strategic direction for the network, by assessing, articulating and prioritising the national security threats to the UK. The team works closely with cross-government partners, providing functional and thematic analytical support to senior leaders to inform decision-making. You will conduct a dual role during your posting, firstly working within one of the A&R teams, focussing on engaging with police forces across the UK to monitor current and emerging community tensions as well as writing assessments on different thematic areas. Secondly, you will support the A&R Learning and Development Team with organising training for Analysts & Researchers as well as supporting the planning and delivery of continuous professional development (CPD) events for the network.
Key Tasks
The post holder will be required to do the following:
- Assist with development of intelligence research and analytical products to support work across the teams.
- Conduct open-source research and other tasks to support intelligence development.
- Liaise with partners and other police forces to gather and collate intelligence and data returns from across the UK.
- Work with the learning and development team to organise and manage training and CPD events for the A&R network.
- Other project work as required by the team, with the opportunity to shape tasks based on your areas of interest / study and subject matter knowledge.

The post holder must have:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to present information clearly and appropriately to a wide variety of stakeholders.
- The ability to manage your own workload, balance multiple demands and quickly respond to changing priorities.
- The ability to translate complex information into a concise and understandable summary, with a good eye for detail.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and to build relationships with a range of stakeholders.
Desirables
- A keen interest in Counter Terrorism and/or Policing, with strong work ethic and desire to learn.
- Studying a relevant qualification in Criminology / Terrorism Studies / Policing / Security Studies / International Relations / Sociology / Psychology.
