Moving Forward Essex is a growing, person-centred outreach service supporting young people and adults with learning disabilities, autism and additional needs across North Essex and surrounding areas.
We are looking for reliable, confident and genuinely engaging Outreach Support Workers to join our expanding team.
THIS IS NOT A TRADITIONAL DOMICILIARY CARE ROLE.
Our work focuses on independence, confidence, community inclusion and practical life skills. We do not provide personal care or administer medication.
No two support sessions are necessarily the same. You may be supporting an individual to prepare a meal, develop household skills, access the community, go fishing, take part in an activity, go for a walk, build confidence or work towards an agreed independence outcome.
The role may include:
- Providing person-centred 1:1 outreach support
- Supporting individuals to access their local community
- Developing independence and practical life skills
- Supporting cooking and meal preparation skills
- Encouraging healthy routines and meaningful physical activity
- Supporting social inclusion and confidence
- Helping individuals work towards agreed goals and outcomes
- Following individual support plans and risk assessments
- Maintaining professional boundaries
- Completing clear, accurate digital support records
- Communicating appropriately with Moving Forward Essex management
We are looking for someone who is:
- Reliable and genuinely committed to the people they support
- Confident working independently in the community
- Patient, calm and able to communicate clearly
- Able to build positive professional relationships
- Comfortable supporting people with learning disabilities, autism and additional needs
- Able to follow support plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures
- Willing to complete clear support records
- Flexible and able to adapt to individual needs
Previous experience in support work, learning disabilities, autism, SEN, social care or a related role is desirable. However, we are also interested in applicants with the right values, confidence and willingness to learn.
A driving licence and access to a vehicle are strongly preferred due to the community-based nature of the role.
DBS and safer recruitment checks will apply.
Hours are currently flexible and will vary according to individual support packages. Moving Forward Essex is expanding, and there may be opportunities for additional hours as new support packages are introduced.
Pay: £14.00 per hour.
If you are looking for a role where you can genuinely support people to develop skills, build confidence and increase their independence, we would love to hear from you.
Please apply with your CV and a short introduction explaining why this type of outreach support work interests you.
