About the role
We are looking for an experienced and proactive aviation Safety & Compliance Manager to lead and develop our safety and regulatory compliance activities.
This is a key role within the organisation, responsible for ensuring that our operations meet all applicable aviation regulations, internal standards and industry best practice. You will work closely with operational teams, senior management, regulators and other stakeholders to promote a strong, positive safety culture across the business.
Key responsibilities
● Lead and continuously improve the organisation's Safety Management System (SMS).
● Monitor compliance with applicable aviation regulations, requirements and company procedures.
● Manage internal audits, inspections, compliance monitoring and corrective actions.
● Identify, assess and manage operational safety risks and hazards.
● Investigate safety occurrences, incidents and non-conformities and ensure appropriate corrective and preventative actions are implemented.
● Maintain accurate safety, compliance and risk-management records and produce management reports and safety performance indicators.
● Support regulatory and third-party audits and act as a key point of contact for relevant authorities and external stakeholders.
● Develop and deliver safety training, briefings and awareness initiatives.
● Promote a proactive reporting culture and encourage continuous safety improvement.
● Review and update safety policies, procedures, risk assessments and compliance documentation.
● Own and manage the editing, approval and distribution of key operational manuals
● Provide expert advice to senior management on aviation safety, regulatory compliance and emerging risks and be prepared to act and implement any resulting development projects to completion
● Keep the organisation informed of relevant changes to legislation, regulation and industry standards.
About you
You will be a confident aviation safety professional with strong regulatory knowledge and the ability to influence people at all levels of an organisation.
You will ideally have:
● Proven experience in aviation safety, compliance, quality or a related operational role, ideally from a similar type of organisation holding multiple aviation approvals (i.e. AOC, ATO, CAMO, Part 145 etc)
● Strong knowledge of aviation regulations and Safety Management Systems.
● Experience conducting audits, investigations, risk assessments and compliance monitoring.
● Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
● The confidence to challenge unsafe or non-compliant practices constructively.
● Strong written and verbal communication skills.
● Experience working with regulators, auditors and operational stakeholders.
● A proactive and flexible approach and a genuine commitment to improving safety performance.
● Relevant aviation, safety or compliance qualifications.
Experience as a nominated postholder for compliance or safety management at a UK CAA approved organisation would be highly desirable.
