Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and organised Activities Co-ordinator to enrich the lives of residents in our care home. The successful candidate will plan, organise, and facilitate engaging activities tailored to the needs and interests of our residents, many of whom may be living with dementia or Alzheimer's disease. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in senior care by promoting social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall wellbeing.
Duties
- Develop and implement a diverse programme of activities suitable for residents with varying levels of mobility and cognitive ability, including those requiring dementia or Alzheimer's care.
- Facilitate daily activities such as arts and crafts, music sessions, light exercise, games, and social events that promote engagement and enjoyment.
- Collaborate closely with care staff to assess individual resident needs and preferences, ensuring activities are inclusive and accessible.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to continually improve programme offerings.
- Encourage residents’ participation through personalised approaches and effective communication skills.
- Organise special events or outings that enhance residents’ quality of life while ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times.
- Support residents in maintaining their independence and social skills through meaningful engagement.
Requirements
- Prior experience working within assisted living, nursing home environments or senior care settings is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of dementia care and Alzheimer’s care principles is essential.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to connect effectively with older adults, including those with cognitive impairments.
- Experience in caregiving or care home roles is advantageous.
- Demonstrated organisational skills to plan and execute varied activity programmes efficiently.
- A caring, patient demeanour with a genuine passion for enhancing the wellbeing of elderly residents.
